Horses.
Those tiny moments.
Horses are my life. Life from foals being born, trained and campaigned, and some hugged at the end. But one thing I have lacked is a visual journal of my partnership with horses. Those hours of grooming behind the scenes. Washing your show jod’s, saddle blanket and bandages 5 times trying to get that new white clean glow. Picking up all the pooh after the colt tips the manure wheelbarrow over… again. Plaiting 5 horses the morning of the show when it’s 0 degrees and my fingers are frozen before they are loaded into the truck. The training moments when it all comes together. The sneaky treat you had in your back pocket you just gave pony while coach was looking the other way pointing out the new line set up.
Finding a visual storyteller who gets horses, really gets horse life and our connection with horses, AND can tell the story my way is few and far between.
The following sessions are unique to me, captured my way.
Horse and Rider Portraits.
Take in an epic scene with your horse. A day of adventure through the hills, splash through the ocean, stroll through the orchard or the calm of the stables.
Large wall prints or panoramic vistas.
Signature Art Series.
I started creating the Signature Art Series (or Black Background Portraits) many many years ago. Long before it became popular and before anyone else was doing them. I actually used to paint portraits of horses with oil on black velvet 20 years ago. I loved the effect so much I wanted to replicate that painterly feel with photos. I use studio techniques to emphasise baroque and renaissance dramatic lighting on dark background or post-modern vibrant on light background. Lighting equipment can be scary for horses, my approach is gentle and understanding to your horse's needs.
Prints are done on fine art mediums, studio style ready to hang in your home or office.
Documentary.
Have you wanted to capture your story with your horse, in a way you can keep forever. I know I have. I have set up "A Day in the Life" documentary style approach to capture the story, bond and connection in a way that is personal and unique to you. Sessions can include multiple activities including riding, feeding, playing in a mixture of formal, action and candid. Sessions are printed in a beautiful leather bound journal or flat lay coffee table book. Keep a record of how your bond has grown with a yearly book.
Equestrian Events.
