Unplugged Weddings

I know smartphones are almost second nature to people these days. However there are benefits from asking your guests to put away their phones.

Keeping your guests in the moment - by staying off their phones it allows the guests to be fully present in the moment and take everything in. So often guests are so immersed in their phones they miss witnessing emotional moments unfold and what’s happening around them. I can’t capture their facial expressions while their faces are hiding behind screens.

Keeping the guests out of the frame - all too often I have guests leaping into the aisle to get a tiny grainy iPhone photo while the bride and groom say their vowels. Or moving into awkward positions during the first dance instead of simply enjoying themselves.

What goes on social media - guests can be so instantaneous or “instafamous” that they will start posting to social media grainy and unflattering angles while you are still saying your vowels.

What can you do? If you decide you would like an unplugged certain parts of the day, put a little note in the invitations so the guests are aware before hand. Let them know that they can have access to the wedding photo gallery afterwards, that way they can relax knowing they will receive beautiful memories on that day too.
